Elizabeth “Louise” Spring, age 94, of Great Cacapon,
WV, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on
Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her home, while under the
care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born January
25, 1928 in Port Homer, OH, she was a lifetime resident
of Great Cacapon, WV.
She was preceded in death
by her loving husband, Ellsworth Lee Spring; and
brothers, James Leon Spriggs and Wayne Edwin Spriggs,
and sister, Mary Lee Bauserman.
She was the
daughter of the late Harry Edwin Spriggs and stepfather,
Boyd Lafayette and mother, Madeline Evelyn Parlett
Spriggs Dawson.
She is survived by one brother,
Richard Steven Dawson and four daughters, Susan Hardesty
(Brent), Dawn Kyne (Randy), Roxanne Spring (Scott) and
Deborah Weaver (Mark); and grandchildren, Erin, Brandon,
Brandy, Chasity, Brigitte, Joshua, Matthew and Elizabeth
and 16 great grandchildren.
Louise was a 1947
graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and a member of
the Evangelical United Brethren and Calvary United
Methodist Church. She retired after 25 years of service
as postmaster, Great Cacapon, WV. Louise was a former
employee long distance operator with C & P Telephone,
Baltimore, MD.
She served on the Morgan County
Board of Education, Morgan County Department of Health,
Senior Life Services and the Eastern West Virginia
Community Foundation. She was a Hospice Liaison and
Volunteer; a member of Ye Towne of Bath NSDAR and
Berkeley Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star. Louise
received the State of WV Order of the 35th Star for
community service awarded by Senator Manchin. She
organized and chaired the Calvary United Methodist
Church Food Pantry/Mission (Shepherds Cupboard’s) and
helped plan and create Memorial Garden, dedicated to
Calvary United Methodist Church and community.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday,
October 24, 2022 at Calvary United Methodist Church,
5317 Central Avenue, Great Cacapon, WV with Lay Speaker
Scott Kesecker officiating. Interment will be in Mt.
Nebo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle,
330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
