Virgil H. Ruppenthal was a
pioneer in the tri-state area (Maryland, Pennsylvania,
and Maryland) with a business that involved music boxes
and pinball machines placed in tri-state businesses.
His business was operated from his building in downtown
Cumberland, Maryland. Uncle Virgil and his wife,
Ruth Crosby, lived in nearby Lavale.
My brother, Virgil (named
after Uncle Virgil) enjoyed visiting his business in
Cumberland with hundreds of pinball machines to play.
We were also the recipient of constant supplies of used
phonograph records.
