Betty Ditto completed her journey in this world
peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at
the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her husband,
William (Bill) Ditto, her parents, Margaret and Vernon
Ambrose and her infant twin sister Virginia Lee Ambrose.
She is survived by her son Mark A. Ditto of Fountain
Hills, Arizona, her daughter Barbara D. Hatcher of
Berkeley Springs and two grandchildren, Luke Hatcher and
Bailey Hatcher of Ferrum, Virginia. Betty’s other living
relatives include her aunt, Nancy Largent and cousins
Linda McGraw (Jerry) and Pat Largent, Wyatt McGraw (Amy)
and their children Emmett and Andy. After graduating
from Berkeley Springs High School, she attended
Hagerstown Business College. Betty and her husband
retired from their business BIG “A” Auto Parts store in
1996. Betty enjoyed cooking, crocheting and entertaining
friends at their homes in West Virginia and Florida. She
rarely met a stranger and would often find a relative or
connection to her Berkeley Springs roots. The
celebration of Betty’s life service will be held at
First United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 13,
2016 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends at the
church 2 hours prior to the service. Her internment will
be privately held at Greenway Cemetery at a later date.
Betty was a member of many organizations including the
Morgan County Historical Society, Daughters of the
American Revolution, Daughters of the Nile, Eastern
Star, and served as a volunteer at the Elsie Quirk
Library in Englewood, Florida. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to First United Methodist Church,
49 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 where
Betty was a faithful member or to the Morgan County
Historical Society, PO Box 52, Berkeley Springs, WV
25411 where she served as the Treasurer for many years
and also enjoyed helping many to find answers related to
their ancestors. Thanks to all the healthcare providers
and friends who have supported her throughout her
journey with cards and prayers. A special thanks to all
those caregivers with Hospice of the Panhandle, 330
Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 who helped mom
through her final days.
