Eleanor Delores Harden, 83, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.,
died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at her daughter’s home
with her son-in-law, Julian, as her caregiver.
Born May 27, 1934, in Berkeley
Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles
Brenton and Edith Pearl Crone Spriggs.
She attended Hancock (Md.)
Presbyterian Church.
Eleanor was a 1955 graduate of
Berkeley Springs High School.
She was a homemaker all of her
life to her husband and children.
Eleanor worked at Duckwall and
Johnson tomato canning factory, and Interwoven sewing
mill, both in Berkeley Springs; and G.C. Murphy’s and
Shives pizza shop, both in Hancock.
She attended activities at the
Berkeley Springs and Hancock senior centers.
Eleanor enjoyed gardening and
canning, and loved spending her time with grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by her
children, Dale William Harden and wife, Charmaine Kay,
and Karen Marie Ayers and husband, Julian Vincent III,
all of Hancock; five grandchildren, Bradley William
Harden of Waynesboro, Pa., Christopher James Harden of
Berkeley Springs, Stephanie Marie Sorochman of
Pittsburgh, Pa., Angelique Elizabeth Leslie Ayers of
Hagerstown, Md., and Alexander Vincent Ayers of Hancock;
six great-grandchildren, Nolan Kenneth Root of
Hedgesville, W.Va., Jillian Paisleigh Sorochman of
Pittsburgh, Garrus Barrett Browning and Deianira
Victoria Browning, both of Hagerstown, Carter Michael
Golden of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Oakley William Harden
of Waynesboro; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law;
many nieces and nephews; and her good friend, Donald
McBee.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Lester William Harden, on June 18, 1993;
and one brother, Leroy Brenton Spriggs.
Funeral services will be
Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union St.,
Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Allan Weatherholt Jr.
officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The family will receive friends
Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral
home.
