Mr. John C. Morgret, Jr., 80, of King St. Clair
Road, Alum Bank, PA, died Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 at
UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mr. Morgret was born in Hagerstown, MD on October 22,
1936, the son of the late John G. Morgret, Sr. and
Louise (Yost) Morgret.
He was first married to Patricia L. (Allison) Morgret on
July 1, 1970 and she preceded him in death on March 12,
2001. He then married Shelby (Davis) Morgret on
April 13, 2003.
Patricia and John raised the following children; Melodie
(Crist) wife of Rodney Kegg, Alum Bank; Jeff
husband of Babette (Mitchell) Crist, Alum Bank;
Holly (Morgret) Van Horn, State College; Robin Hill and
fiancé Jeff Burkhart, Chambersburg. He is also survived
by eight grandchildren, Jamie, Adam, Ryan, Seth, Hannah,
Daniel, Jordan, and Douglas.
John was a longtime
member of the Spring Meadow Family Worship Center in New
Paris. He served in the US Army during the Korean
War. John was employed as an electrician at both
Kennametal in Bedford and Palmer Construction in
McConnellsburg. He recently managed improvements
to the Mark Mock Recreational Park in Pleasantville.
John was a member of the Bedford County Tea Party and
served as a Bedford County Sheriffs Deputy. He was
a lifetime member of the Alum Bank Fire Company and was
a longtime coach of Pleasantville Little League teams
during the 1960's and 1970's. John was a past
chairman of the Pleasantville Water Authority.
John loved the Lions Club and served as Chestnut Ridge
Lions President, District Governor 14L, Leader Dog
Chairman and Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coordinator.
He was a fine community leader and a wonderful husband,
father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly
missed .
A Funeral Service will be held at Spring Meadow Family
Worship Center, New Paris, at 11:00 AM on Saturday,
September 16th, 2017 with Pastor Randy Brant and Pastor
Gary Boor officiating.
Interment will be held at Pavia Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 7:00 - 9:00
PM and on Saturday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the church
New Paris.
